Azizi Gibson – Xenophile [LP] + “Xenophile” [Video]

New music from Azizi Gibson who trips out over a solid stash of drum-machine-gunning beats on the album Xenophile. Standout cuts include the irreverent but crazy catchy opening cut “Intro (Doug Funny)”; the unabashed and crudely humorous “Tinder” (featuring DJ Paul); a luminous shot of tropical energy entitled “Rihanna” – which feels like a tongue-in-cheek send up of something Drake and/or Rihanna would put out, but still bumps if you vibe to it as a straight-forward club cut; and my personal favorite – “Muriel & Eustace” (which weirdly reminds me of my favorite Ol’ Dirty Bastard & Mighty Ha tracks from back in the day). I’m not going to lie…this album isn’t for everyone. But I’m diggin’ it, and you might too.
