Producer/composer JWords conjures up an eclectic and hypnotic river of sound with her EP SÍN SEÑAL. The 6-track EP is a darkly shimmering body of work that integrates the grainier elements of hip-hop and the amped-up, energy-spilling elements of electronica. Album highlights include a relentless blitz of chunky rhythms and lo-fi strings samples called “NUMB“ (which features a seemingly entranced performance from rapper MIKE); a serene zone-out called “Pressure Point“ which proved to be the perfect backdrop to a whiskey & Guinness fueled buzz; and the relatively brightly lit and optimistic opening cut “uNiverse Love“. Over a somewhat limited span of time, SÍN SEÑAL covers a lot of ground in the emotions department – with songs that feel tense, relaxing, and one that’s a bit on the cheery side.
