Berner & B-Real – Los Meros [LP]

New music from cannabis aficionados Berner and B-Real courtesy of their joint album Los Meros – a laid-back bit of west-coast cool out that’s less in line with Devin the Dude-styled, “smoking mountains of weed” stoner-rap and more in line with “we’re enjoying the spoils of hustling hard….while also smoking mountains of weed” rap. Berner‘s relaxed, monotone rhyme-style pairs well with B-Real‘s signature nasally & animated flow as well as the heavy line-up of blunted beats and guest artists. Album highlights include a swirly piano-loop driven tune called “Just Breathe” (featuring Everlast), a minimalistic cut called “Candy”  (featuring MMG “bawse” Rick Ross), a darkly toned but memorable song that’s ironically (?) titled “Island Vibes” (featuring Cozmo and Everlast), and the relatively lively title track, “Los Meros” (featuring the one and only “Mr X-to-the-Z” himself Xzibit).
