JunaSwon & MXE – Come Thru [Single]

On the single “Come Thru” the duo JunaSwon & MXE – a Japanese producer/arranger and a young British singer-songwriter respectively – steps up to the mic to deliver an warm R&B track about pushing through distractions and obligations to make time for that special someone. With a style and delivery that reminds me of indie-R&B darling Claire Renee, MXE‘s sings from the vantage point of a woman who is in a loving relationship yet struggling to spend time with her especially busy partner. MXE offers a bit of insight into the way that she uses her life to inspire her songwriting by stating, “I am the type of person to do their best to make time for you whilst on a busy schedule and feel that, within this society, simple actions of effort such as this are often overlooked. Which is where the inspiration for this song came from. ‘Come Thru’ is about a budding relationship where one partner is extremely busy but does their best to make time and put in an effort….“ The song is a delicate little ballad about enduring love with cozy vocals and a chill-inducing nu-soul arrangement.
