Returning to the musical fold with a powerhouse vocal performance that found fans of previous albums eager to embrace the neo-soul artist’s latest love story, Never Forget My Love is Joss Stone’s newest studio album. Produced by Dave Stewart, of the Eurhythmics fame, this 10-song collection navigates subjects such as broken relationships and the uncertainty of falling in love on a selection of classic pop and soul arrangements in which she feels right at home. A symphonic, 60’s era sound permeates this album in the best possible way. It helps to create a very emotional aura on bittersweet torch songs like “Breaking Each Other’s Hearts” and “Does It Have to Be Today” and a brightly lit glow on tracks like “You’re My Girl” and “Oh to Be Loved by You”. Album closer “When You’re in Love” dips it’s toe into an almost disco-y, 70’s Philly Soul sound that allows the album to end on a sunny and optimistic note. Never Forget My Love is a collection of classic love songs, with a heavy dose of Motown-tinted arrangements thrown in. This album is imbued with passion and beauty as Stone lays down some beautifully sung soul classics that take us straight back to the sixties and reminds us yet again that Joss Stone is one of the most talented singers of this (and a few other) generation.
