WILLTHEWISE has a way with words – so much so that he easily finds a way to fill a song called “Water Damage” with tons of water-based metaphors and double-entendres, yet still make sure that the whole thing is red hot and simmering. Very steamy and a little bit tongue-in-cheek, Will and guest vocalist Asia Kyreé deliver the song’s suggestive lyrics with smoldering intensity. With all the talk about deep strokes, surfing waves, and tsunami -level “explosions”, you would expect the water metaphors to get old quick. But these two performers know how to work the angles without overdoing it. And it probably doesn’t hurt that the young wordsmith has the sort of breathy baritone that quickly makes the ladies go all heart-eyes. For her part, Asia Kyreé dives deep into her vixenish allure and surfaces with a really sexy performance. I’ve had this on loop for about an hour and I’ve enjoyed listening to it every time. A song like this can easily cross over to the mainstream and appeal to a wide audience.
“Water Damage” is the second single to drop from WILLTHEWISE this year, following the trap-soul single “Enough Is Enough” which touched down back i January.
