Selah Sue – Persona [LP]

Persona is the long-awaited, newly released studio album from vocal powerhouse Selah Sue. It’s an ambitious and eclectic record that spans a multitude of genres whilst never losing hold of its spicy, electro-funk center. The Belgian multi-talent has never been afraid to add her personal touch to popular music – challenging genres and effortlessly transcending the borders that separate them. This adventurous nature can be heard all over Persona, a record that seeps in pop and electronic music, but bleeds soul, funk, and hip-hop. This project is overflowing with gotta hear cuts, including a future-funk theme song called “Kingdom“, a cool strutting nu-jazz gem called “Hurray” (which features TOBi), a slice of Mick Jenkins assisted drum funk called “Celebrate”, and a near psychedelic trek through the sky called “Catch My Drift”.
