Fatimah Patrice – DMAF [Single + Video]

Fatimah Patrice‘s amazingly crafted track “DMAF” is a look at the present state of racial and gender inequality as viewed from the eyes of a young black woman. In the song, the forever hustling emcee refuses to let others dictate who she is or how she carries herself. The understated tone of the instrumentation is perfect for the vibe of Fatimah‘s message, and the Cali emcee delivers her message brilliantly. The acronym stands for “Do me a favor” and all throughout the song the phrase is used in a somewhat sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek way to run down the line of some of the racist and misogynistic offenses that Patrice has to deal with in almost every aspect of her life. Solid and empowering, you can’t help but be seriously impressed by this woman and her work.
