Your Old Droog has clearly taken a tremendous amount of time to craft each lyric and rhyme on YOD Stewart, and it shows—the album is truly one of the most well-crafted hip-hop albums of the year. It’s moody and atmospheric, with a ton of subtle layers that continue to hit you well after you’re done listening. At a time when hip hop seems to be drifting back towards lyrical storytelling, Your Old Droog shines a light for so many people lost in the darkness of banal rap music. If you enjoy underground hip hop with a high level of artistic sophistication, YOD Stewart is an intelligent choice. It’s definitely worth your while. Standout cuts include “Love and Basketball“, “Mind Your Business“, “Go To Sleep“, and “I Knew You Was A Bitch“.

This is an album that I will be telling all of my friends about. It is a set that I am hard-pressed to find anything to complain about beyond a few trivial nitpicks or annoyances. It may even be the best album of the year and certainly in the top 10.
