Tai Marie – Battlefront II [Single]

Opposites attract and likes repel, as the saying goes. Likewise, friendships between like-minded people are not necessarily suited to evolve into something romantic. In fact, they often can’t. Some might say that this is because of the fact that friends have too much in common and are too familiar with one another to ever feel comfortable in a romantic affair. To those people, I say this: there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to love, lust, and everything in-between.

On her most recent single, entitled “Battlefront II“, singer Tai Marie touches on this subject as she shares a sweet story of two gamers who decide to go from friends to lovers while playing a round of the Star Wars action shoo. It’s a great song that tells a heartfelt story in a unique way. Tai‘s voice is warm and clear with just a hint of smokiness to it – landing at a midway point between T-Boz and Chilli. The youthful approach to the songwriting and the smoothness of the vocals juxtapose each other and make the song more complicated than it seems on paper. It uses an infectious pop-soul hook to keep the attention of the listeners while they listen to Tai talk about a very personal and engaging story. Overall, I was quite impressed with “Battlefront II.” It’s a touching song about an emotionally intense experience, written and sung by a talented singer-songwriter.
