New music from Vancouver-based rapper Raw Soul courtesy of the single “4 AM in Vancouver“. In this track, Raw Soul paints a vivid picture of the reflective thoughts that can dominate one’s mind during those late night/early morning moments between sleep and wakefulness. The music is driven by a wall of effects-laden instruments and pitch-shifted vocals that are complemented by some buzzing trap drums. The beat evokes the eerie solitude that so often fills the city streets at 4 am while Raw Soul‘s stream-of-consciousness exposition touches down like an off-the-top freestyle from a young griot. The vibe of this track is best characterized as pensive, which is fitting for such a nocturnally-charged track.
