Hey Y’all!
Pardon me in advance, but this is gonna be a long one. If you want the TLDR version:
|
It is with all of the love and tenderness in my heart that I announce my debut album, I Hope You Can Forgive Me, is finally on its way! The journey getting to this point has been long, with plenty of ups and downs, but nevertheless, she (aka me) persisted!
|
We kicked off the album announcement with the release of my new single and video, “(Please Don’t) Leave Me Now” (watch above). I wrote the song after surviving a near-fatal car accident with my partner. It was a wonderfully cathartic experience creating this beautiful piece of work with an incredible team led by director Kemp Baldwin. I’m so grateful the stars aligned for Kemp and I to finally work on something together after so many years!
|
“(Please Don’t) Leave Me Now” got some great looks from press this week! I had one of my favorite interviews to date with Tirhaka Love for Vulture Magazine. We talked about everything from my writing process to my petition to have a school dance in the 5th grade.
Plus some awesome looks from FADER (they say I’m “ready for stardom,” which I certainly agree with!), Pitchfork, Cool Hunting and more!

Had you asked me pre-pandemic who would end up producing 70% of my debut album, it certainly wouldn’t have been me. I’d convinced myself that the technological aspect of it all was too much for me to handle (rich coming from someone who was coding every aspect of their Myspace page at 13 lol). But now I had nothing but time and no IRL gigs to release my musical energy.
|
Getting to the point of a debut album certainly took longer than I’d envisioned — it probably took longer than you all expected too — but I’m a firm believer in things happening how and when they’re supposed to. Thank you all so much for sticking with me throughout this journey, my art would be nothing without you. I’m incredibly proud to finally be bringing this music into the world — I promise it’s worth the wait!

I Hope You Can Forgive Me officially drops May 12th 💜 Until then, you can pre-order the album on vinyl, CD or very limited edition cassette, which features 2 collectable covers. AND if you want my John Hancock, make sure to head to Bandcamp to grab the extra special autographed copies (only 10 each!).
|
Thank you so much to everyone who has already pre-ordered and purchased tickets! As a fully independent artist, buying merch and tickets are the biggest ways you can help support artistic journey. I know times are tough right now for so many folks, so if you’re unable to purchase anything, simply sharing my music with your community can do wonders. Every like, share, TikTok, tweet, cover video and anything else you can think of matters.
I can’t wait to see your beautiful faces 🙂
xo
