Bangbang – Without You [Single]

“Without You“ by the band Bangbang is a sparkling love letter to London, a city the duo describes as “a place where everything and anything is possible.” Singer Criz’s breathy soprano makes the luminous nu-disco track feel like a wistful valentine, while RFK‘s production is full of bubbly synths, boxy drum machine thumps, and a dash of retro-futuristic flair. The lyrics speak to the desire to never be without someone or something that is so integral to one’s life that the idea of being separated from it is too painful to bear. In this case, that something is the band’s beloved home base in the U.K. capital. The chorus repeats the phrase “I don’t wanna go without you” in a way that is both catchy and poignant. And the use of “you” is intentionally ambiguous, leaving the listener to interpret it however they wish. In the end, “Without You” is a shimmering slice of pop and soul that underscores the deep connections that we can make with the places we call home and the people who are a part of those spaces.
