STEPH‘s latest release, titled “Underneath the Sun“, is a stirring pop ballad that explores the weighty realities of love—its joys and sorrows—with heartbreaking poignancy. In her lyrics, the young siren reveals her desire to ride the highs and lows of a relationship like a surfer who dares to leave the shore behind and plunge into uncharted waters – even knowing that she will inevitably crash. “[It is] a song about a love that can’t make it.” STEPH writes while explaining the song. “No matter how hard they try, they keep falling off.” Her vocals are gripping without being overly dramatic, expressing the yearning and heartbreak of the lyrics perfectly. And the music is simple yet impactful, with a soft piano and a bed of synth strings setting up a moody backdrop for the Swedish singer before some dynamic drums enter the scene near the song’s halfway point. This heartfelt release showcases STEPH‘s excellent ability to convey complex emotions through her music and is a testament to her talent as a singer and songwriter.
“Underneath the Sun” is taken from STEPH‘s debut EP, Love Seasons (Pt. 1) – which just dropped today.
