Stepping boldly into a unique crossroads of culture and music, Ochikes and SPIKES join forces in their collaboration, “Ride or Die“. This new single blur genre boundaries, stirring up elements of U.S and Nigerian influenced hip-hop and creating a dark-tinted yet really dope soundscape.

Serving as the introductory piece from the forthcoming EP Drifting, “Ride or Die” is a sobering conversation on the stark realities of loyalty and friendship. The track cradles listeners with nocturnal beats and swirling melodies crafted by both Ochikes and SPIKES. Working on both sides of the mixing board, SPIKES elevates the track with his unruffled flow and accented rasp, deconstructing street level dynamics with candid lyricism.

Metaphors and witticisms punctuate SPIKES‘ verses, notably in lines like “Friends say they’re good, everybody say they love you/ Say you guaranteed like you never need a lawyer/ But they ice cold like the bloody White Walkers“. And in the chorus he digs deeper into the idea highlighting that loyalty – the core of the phrase “ride or die” – only shows its true colors when the chips are down.
