In her new video for the single “Bow Down,” singer/songwriter/polymath STORRY explores issues of sexism and misogyny through a lens that celebrates women’s power rather than their victimization. The video begins with a scene in which a naked STORRY is comforted by a pair of women on a rocky shoreline. We see the trio quietly sit together as we hear STORRY begin to sing in a sweetly melodic voice about how she maneuvers through situations where men are looking to manipulate and use her for their own ends. As the song continues, the three women are seen basking in the beautiful natural settings surrounding them as the song builds and crescendos into a very moving chorus. Both the sights and sounds of this piece are elegantly choreographed to create a sense of fluidity and quiet strength that calls to mind moments in nature when the elements are at their most powerful. The video ends on a note of hope, with STORRY looking off into the distance as she embraces her sisters as well as whatever new experiences lie ahead of her.
