In comparison, these 2020 reworks sparkle with lively backbeats and colorful instrumentation that inject a bit of fresh air into each cut. “Keep Goin‘ ” feels vibrant and rich with its beaming instrumentation and stirring vocals from Choklate filling the room. While heavy on style, the song doesn’t come up short in the substance department, with its motivational message of perseverance in the face of hard times and injustice still resonating ten years after the song’s original release. “Comin’ Thru” keeps the crazy catchy bassline of DJ Numark‘s original production but accents the song’s bare-bones approach with colorful Afro-Brazilian vibes.

Both tracks are part of a 10-year anniversary celebration of Fish Outta Water which brings us “…four new versions of four old songs from the album.” I really dig how both numbers pair Chali‘s signature baritone and quick-firing rhyme style with rousing production. Two dope dancefloor heaters that urge you to keep your head up regardless of the bad times and celebrate life.
