New music from the pairing of Ozay Moore and Tall Black Guy with their new single “Har Hanz“. Swinging between chill and upbeat, this soul-steeped head-nodder lets Ozay and fellow Lightheaded alumni Ohmega Watts play off of one another in a back-and-forth manner that is effortlessly dope. Their approach on the mic is too free-flowing to be called “an onslaught”, but the sharp bars and energetic production keeps it from being an overly laid-back number. It’s simultaneously smooth and kinetic – like watching a pair of break-dancers practice their craft. If you’re wondering about the title (because I certainly did), it’s a reference to percussionist and jazz artist Ray “Hard Hands” Baretto who is named dropped by a pair of native New Yorkers in a documentary-styled sample at the start of the song. Dope work from all parties involved as “Har Hanz” as it takes its place besides classic back-and-forth rap tracks like “Peter Piper” from Run DMC and “Double Trouble” from The Roots and Mos Def.
