Check out Cale G. Weissman‘s article “Erika Alexander Is Using The Blockchain To Make Journalism More Inclusive” – which details how Alexander, her business partner Ben Arnon, and their Color Farm Media company are working with the forward-thinking journalism platform Civil in order to launch a new digital newsroom/journalism website called The Blackness – which will “…tell long-from multimedia stories about marginalized communities”. Like me, some of you may not be familiar with Civil or the concept of “blockchain-based journalism”, so I’ve also included a video that briefly explains what the company is about and how it plans to address the immense credibility and financial problems facing traditional journalism companies in this day and age. After reading the article and watching the video, be sure to catch up on the latest from Weissman by making sure that you’re connected to him via the social links listed below.
The Blackness aims to [publish] long-form multimedia stories that focus on underrepresented communities of color—stories of marginalized groups, what they’re doing, and what’s been done to them. “It’s like a Vice, but for those communities,” explains Color Farm cofounder Erika Alexander, an actress and writer known for her roles in movies such as Get Out and shows such as Living Single. The idea behind the publication, she adds, “was to talk about the things that just disappear.”
