Ruel – Too Many Feelings [Single]

Eighteen-year-old singer Ruel has a very earnest approach to making pop-soul music. His newest release, the singleToo Many Feelings, is an enduring “you used to be mine”-styled torch song that, strangely enough, feels kind of upbeat. On the one hand, you can absolutely feel the regret and wounded heartbreak in Ruel‘s voice when he sings “Wasn’t enough to be honest/Should’ve been dust in my pocket/I had enough but I lost it all“. But on the other hand, M-Phazes‘ bubbling production gives you a breezy, carefree feeling as you sway to its quick-step rhythm and vapory melody.

“Too Many Feelings” follows the Bright Lights, Red Eyes EP which Ruel and M-Phazes released back in October – a set that leans a little heavier on the pop side of things than it does the “soul” side, but has more than a few impressive moments on it. Another project that’s definitely worth checking out is Ruel‘s very cool and very quirky video portal called RuelVision TV. It has a ton of videos and livestreams from the aspiring star, with most (if not all) of the entries centered around a dope nostalgic theme.
