New music from the Rochester, NY-based duo Young Black and Gifted by way of the single “The Oath” – a powerful statement of purpose that mixes rough-wrought drums with haunting guitars and a reverberating bass loop as laid out by group member Kidd Called Quest. Group frontman Azariah and guest emcee Jae Hussle both take a defiant stance as they speak on the value of being a person of principle and living by a self-governing code. It’s a raw and no-nonsense track that revels in the trio’s ability to remain firmly committed to their codes regardless of which way the wind blows.
