Ravyn Lenae – Skin Tight (feat. Steve Lacy) [Single + Video]

New music and imagery from singer Ravyn Lenae who has a new song out called “Skin Tight” – a deceptively bubbly and effervescent track that seems to be about a woman who is getting in touch with an ex for a no-string-attached one night stand. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about this song – aside from the obvious thought of Ravyn’s light and shimmering soprano — is the striking juxtaposition between its lyrics and the way they are presented through music. The tone of the music and Ravyn‘s delivery give off a feeling of warmth and welcoming nostalgia – like remembering the first time that you heard Minnie Riperton‘s “Loving You”. At the same time, the song’s come-hither lyrics and Ravyn‘s femme-fatale-ish aura in the video openly announce the self-serving nature of the singer’s offer. So while “Skin Tight” might come across as an innocently sung love song, the song’s suggestive title and trippy early-90’s computer generated animation style tell an altogether different (and sexier) story. With all that said, you can definitely count me in for more of the same from Miss Lenae and I’m pretty sure that you will feel the same way after a few replays.
