Scribbles Who, a singer-songwriter from Pompano Beach, Florida, has a seriously smooth and soulful voice as well as tons of personal charisma that shines through in her music. She uses both of these ingredients to great effect on her newest anthem “REUP” – a slow-burning number that talks about becoming a better person from the inside out. In a low-key way, Scribbles reworks slang terms like “re-up” and “the plug” to explain how she has grown as a person. “This is a song to hustle or ride to…” the singer writes before adding “[REUP] is about becoming a better version of yourself”. Both artists flow effortlessly over producer Scrilla H’s production, yet everything about “REUP” feels meticulously crafted and precise. It’s the sort of artistic wizardry that an artist like Alicia Keys is known for pulling off and it is sure to leave audiences impatiently waiting to hear what Scribbles does next. And while it’s still early in the year, I feel assured in saying that “REUP” will prove to be one of the best songs to be released in 2022.
