“Let It Die“ by singer-multi-instrumentalist Mitch Davis is possibly the breeziest breakup song you will ever hear. Normally I would recommend this track to those listeners who are looking for a cheery tune with an overall airy vibe that will get them ready for the sunlit days of springtime. But considering the fact that this is a breakup song, that feels kind of inappropriate. So while this tune has its warm and exuberant parts (see the Moogy synth solo around 2:03), at the end of the day this is a song about calling it quits in a relationship. Still… the more I think about it, the more I feel like my first reaction was the right one. This is the sort of soulful indie-rock/indie-pop tune that is ideal to begin the day with. And given the times, we could all use a little Beck-like breeziness to help get us through.
