Raheaven – Throat Game Stupid! [EP]

While I don’t quite understand it myself, lately I’ve found a new appreciation for R&B music where the production has a pop-soul bent to it and the vocal stylings are effervescent-yet-sexy. Some projects prove to be a bit too saccharine for my taste. But when it’s done right – as with Rahaven‘s THROAT GAME STUPID! EP- I can’t help but enjoy the carefreeness and nostalgia that stirs up inside of me. Raheaven injects enough variety, sex appeal, and charismatic swagger into her music to make her project stand out as a summertime treasure (that isn’t as raunchy as the title might suggest). Standout cuts include some neon-lit 80’s waviness called “Pink Panamera” and a bit of tropical R&B called “Better“.

This is an album where the reviewer really enjoys the majority of the tracks and still finds it compelling even after multiple listens. Listeners will probably be listening to this album fairly regularly for at least a month or until something the same or better comes along. Even after that, the listener will most likely revisit the album a few times during the year.
