Get into a pair of new singles, titled “Litty” and “Say So“, from a hip-hop duo out of Fort Worth, TX called 808 Saints (rapper Ladi + producer Seshun). The opening track “Litty” has a triumphant tone, with lyrics that encourage listeners to accept their own and be themselves. The song is undeniably energetic and inspiring, with rapid-fire rhythms and revved-up horn stabs. Seshun keeps things fast-paced but not overwhelming and Ladi’s voice, lyrics, and delivery all command attention. Overall, it’s high-energy music propelled by expressive lyrics that will make you want to get out there and take on the world.
The follow-up track “Say So” slows things down a bit as Ladi and guest emcee Chef Dee get a bit more reflective with their rhymes and Seshun dips his 808 kit into a pool of swirling strings and haunting rhythms. The verses are much more confessional as Ladi touches on familial issues, politics, spirituality, and more – packing all of this in a song with a two-minute and forty-second runtime. Dope work on both tracks.
