Statz – OXY (feat. Skē) [Single]

New music from Harlem-reppin’ producer Statz by way of his new single “OXY“. This is a cool song because the flow from rapper Skē fits the beat perfectly and there are a couple of different levels to the tune as a whole. On the one hand, you have a catchy song with an old-school vibe that makes you want to bob your head. On another level, however, the lyrics talk about perseverance and grinding for what you love. The song has a unique sound that draws listeners in with its boxy drums, twinkling keys, and brassy horn samples. Producer Statz brings a really cool head-nod vibe with the beat and lyricist Skē provides an absorbing verse and chorus for listeners to sink into. Dope work indeed.

8/10 – Excellent
This is a song that listeners will be telling all of their friends about. It is a track that I am hard-pressed to find anything to complain about beyond a few trivial nitpicks or annoyances. It may not be the best song of the year but it may very well be in the top 10.

About the artist...

I grew up around music. My grandfather being my biggest inspiration as a kid. He was a famous singer in the 1950s group called “Robert and Johnny” My mom would play his music along with some of my other favorite artists today (Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Jay-Z, Anthony Hamilton, Beyoncé, and many more) I starting rapping at 12. My brothers and I would pick beats from YouTube and record songs. It was the most fun id ever had in my life. I still get chills thinking about those times. Not long after I started to rap, I picked up on making beats. I dabbed in and out of production for a few years until 2011. That year music became a driving force in my life. Over the past decade, I’ve worked with a lot of talented dope artists such as (Glory Lives, GrizzyROE, Yaw Geez, R, SNS, and many more) I aspire to keep growing as an artist/producer and creating greater music and working with more artists/creatives such as myself.
