B. Cool-Aid – bonded [Single]

The double-sided single “bonded” is an experimental rap release by Los Angeles-based duo B. Cool-Aid (rapper/frontman Pink Siifu and producer Ahwlee) which consists of an a-side track called “COO” and a b-side tune called “UsedToo“. The songs are jazz-inspired rap numbers with a fresh perspective delivered in an unconventional flow over beats that draw on experimental elements like free-flowing synths, upright basslines, and swinging drums. Siifu‘s approach to rapping is unique, as he often uses an on-beat/off-beat style that’s reminiscent of spoken word poetry. The overall impression evoked by both songs is of imagination running wild with a loose atmosphere where anything can happen. The soundscapes created by Ahwlee on both tracks are labyrinthine, with unexpected twists and turns that keep the listener engrossed at all times.
