Production duo Artichoke FM brought some wild 60s vibes with “Operation Midnight Climax“, and it’s not one to miss. The opening guitar riff feels like it could’ve been pulled straight from a spy flick, with this body-moving, retro swing in the rhythm. The bass sits back, not trying to steal the show but definitely making its presence known while the drums pop off with that signature 60s snap, keeping everything tight.
But the real kicker comes when the horns pop in at the 25-second mark, and it suddenly feels like you’re being dropped into a high-speed car chase scene. The whole thing has this larger-than-life, cinematic energy, like a film soundtrack but without trying too hard. By the time the organ slides the pair are already cooking with gas, but then a string of prog-rock-ish solos start sounding off at the song’s halfway point and you find yourself more locked in than ever. It switches the mood up, bringing this beautifully broody brooding energy to the stage and takes things even deeper than before.
This cut doesn’t let up until it closes out on this big, brassy finale, where it pulls all of its live wires together to slam you with a wild finale, all horns and flair, leaving you breathless like you’ve just gone head-to-head with the whole thing. Artichoke FM threw everything into this track, and it all hit right where it needed to.
