TYuS – Synergy [LP]

For a contemporary R&B set that is genuinely stirring and presents the same sort of cozy-yet-carnal atmosphere that bands of the 90’s became experts in, you would be hard-pressed to find a better album than TYuS‘ newly dropped Synergy project. I’m admittedly a little biased as I spent a lot of my youth listening to the artists that no doubt inspired much of this album. But this is a really good, solidly put together release that delivers top-shelf “all over your body” anthems. Highlights include “Uuknowthascience“, “Gravity“, a better-than-expected reimagining of the Stevie Wonder classic “Lately“, and an accurately titled dose of nostalgia called “Jam2000“.
