I’m only going to say this one time and one time only: you CANNOT do a remake of a classic song that I love and expect me to OVERLOOK IT!!!!

R&B artist Risa Kumon blew me away when she did a cover for Deniece William‘s legendary hit single “Free“! This Nagasaki native has such an extraterrestrial voice! Trust me, that’s probably the highest compliment I’ve ever given to an artist! Her voice will literally vibrate through you and you can feel EVERY note she hits. I loved how she stayed true to the original while still being able to put her own signature essence into it. Her range is immaculate, her voice is immensely powerful and her presence within the song is FELT fiercely.

Truth be told there isn’t much to say because I was genuinely speechless and wasn’t sure how to put this into words. The fact that I was able to create this article at all is a miracle in itself… but that’s how much I believe in Risa Kumon‘s musical ability. I believe Deneice Williams herself would be proud and honored if she heard this track today.
