Supastition – Every Last Word [EP]

Every Last Word is a 6-track EP that displays Supastition‘s persistence not only as an artist but also as a man working hard everyday to overcome the obstacles that life throws at him. Featuring a rock-solid blend of self produced, sample-driven beats that complement his absorbing lyrics, the EP is a journey through Supa‘s mind, with each song serving as an opportunity for him to open up about his past, present and future.

Known for his ability to tackle his personal struggles with poignancy and passion, Supastition delivers a raw and honest perspective on tracks like “Cold Blood“, and “Head Above Water” – which both reference his struggles with issues like growth, depression, anxiety, and his love/hate relationship with music. In particular, on “Head Above Water“, Supastition gives listeners an unfiltered yet cool-headed look at some of the personal and professional struggles that he’s dealt with in the past few years. In contrast, “Cold Blood” feels visceral and urgent, but also nuanced in its storytelling. It accurately conveys a feeling of being pushed to the edge while still having the energy to push back against the B.S. that the world throws at you. Supa‘s voice and intensity feel like they’re coming from somewhere deep inside of him as he attacks the mic with ferocity. He also opens up about the wisdom and discernment that comes with being a father and husband on the track “Make It Home” and gets some closing reflections off of his chest on “Closure“.

Supastition‘s dedication to his craft is evident throughout “Every Last Word, but this new set also gives him a chance to show fans that his passions extend beyond music. He’s a man who has a lot to address and express with his music but he also wants to make sure that he (and by extension, the listener) is making the most of every day he has left. Every Last Word is a great example of how hip hop – which is often seen as a voice for the young and reckless – can grow and evolve as the artists who create it do. This album is a testament to Supastition‘s evolution as an artist, father, husband, and man with a compelling story to tell.
