New music from singer Joy Nesbitt courtesy of the single “Echo” – a sobering piece where the young singer’s vocals express courage and wisdom in the shadow of the generational struggle for racial equality. While the song doesn’t tie itself to a single narrative from the point of view of one particular character, it does cast Joy in the role of a world-weary everywoman who recognizes that the struggle for civil rights that characterized America in the 1960s has circled back onto society in the 2000s. Or maybe it never really left. She offers her point of view poignantly – sounding heavyhearted in her verses but somewhat hopeful in her choruses. Speaking about the single’s origins, Nesbitt writes “ ‘Echo’ is a song born from a conversation with my father. The song is about the way that his experience in 1968 is not very different from his experience in 2020…The world will continue to echo, to turn back around, if we don’t address the real core of the issues we’re seeing.”

The moving track is the latest single from Joy Nesbitt‘s upcoming album – possibly titled Atlas Rising – which is set to touch down on November 20th.
